AACFI concealed carry instructor Bill Schmitz has added more classes for Minnesota non-resident permits to his summer schedule.

The AACFI course would satisfy the training requirements under the concealed carry bill we had last year in Wisconsin; the training requirements should remain the same in this year’s bill. And, of course, the AACFI course meets the requirements for Florida non-resident permits, as well as several other states.

Once again, Bill is generously reducing his fee so that his students can send a donation to our political action committee, the Wisconsin Concealed Carry Movement (WCCM). Without these donations, we wouldn’t have been able to contribute some $16,000 last year to the campaigns of pro-concealed carry candidates. Next year we hope to contribute even more. With your help, we can make that happen.

Details from Bill are below.

Thanks,
The Wisconsin Concealed Carry Association

One consistent promise I make to my students is that any updates needed to qualify for the WI Permit, when the legislation is passed this session, will be passed onto my students at my materials cost. We are reducing our class fee and asking our students to contribute to the WCCM. Anyone who signs up for the classes will be given the discount; we encourage our students to donate the difference to the WCCM.

You should bring to the class, Eye & Ear protection, a Handgun that you are comfortable with, 30 rounds of ammo, and 2-3 magazines or speed loaders.

The Range exercise consists of 15 rounds at 15 ft and 15 Rounds at 25ft.

These exercises are timed and are executed from the standing position of your choice.

Cost of the class is $150 ($100, plus the voluntary $50 WCCM donation) per student. While Range Fees at the Deerfield and Shooters Shop are extra, the range fees at the BDJ Range, Twin City R&G Club, Black River and Corbin range are included in the course.

Payment can be by check, cash, money order or PayPal.
Payment in advance will reserve your seat in the class of your choice.

When you get “ads” enclosed with your phone or utility bill, return these “ads” with your payment. Let the sending companies throw their own junk mail away.

When you get those “pre-approved” letters in the mail for everything from credit cards to 2nd mortgages and similar type junk, do not throw away the return envelope.

Most of these come with postage-paid return envelopes, right?

It costs them more than the regular 37 cents postage “IF” and when they receive them back. It costs them nothing if you throw them away! The postage was around 50 cents before the last increase and it is according to the weight. In that case, why not get rid of some of your other junk mail and put it in these cool little, postage-paid return envelopes.

One of Andy Rooney’s (60 minutes) ideas;
Send an ad for your local chimney cleaner to American Express. Send a pizza coupon to Citibank. If you didn’t get anything else that day, then just send them their blank application back!

If you want to remain anonymous, just make sure your name isn’t on anything you send them.

You can even send the envelope back empty if you want to just to keep them guessing! It still costs them 37 cents.

The banks and credit card companies are currently getting a lot of their own junk back in the mail, but folks, we need to OVERWHELM them. Let’s let them know what it’s like to get lots of junk mail, and best of all they’re paying for it…Twice!

Let’s help keep our postal service busy since they are saying that e-mail is cutting into their business profits, and that’s why they need to increase postage costs again.

You can tell when your children have reached the electronic age…. our daughter still calls junk snail mail ’spam’, or they spammed our mailbox again.

This is currently flying around the ‘net via email again…. the funny thing is I used to do this religiously, sending back everything from empty envelopes to other companies crap to the unfortunate victim that happened to catch me with time on my hands that day. I can’t say it reduced the amount of crap that came in the mail, but at least I did my part to make sure they paid for sending it to me…. Both in return postage and what it cost in lost productivity for sucker on the other end who got my present.

A word of caution though, some of those pre-approved credit card offers contain enough personal information they can actually process the application or provide a ‘dumpster diver’ with the info needed to make you the victim of identity theft, so destroy them!

For example, quite a few years back I was hoping by sending back the blank application would send them the message that it was ME to sent it back and that I was tired of their junk mail, instead the morons send me a credit card a few weeks later.

At least for now the space shuttle Discovery’s launch that was scheduled for 3:51pm today has been scrubbed. Sure hope they get things sorted out for a safe flight (and return) here shortly. I understand they have a two week window in which to get this mission off the ground, as we are able to start getting routine runs to and from ISS again. I’ve been missing the ‘2am and not being able to sleep so I can watch their activities’ and the lumps from Angel about turning off the TV… :)

Space shuttle Discovery

Quote from NASA’s website
Today’s Return to Flight launch of Space Shuttle Discovery has been postponed due to an issue with a low-level fuel cutoff sensor onboard the vehicle. The sensor protects an orbiter’s main engines by triggering them to shut down in the event fuel runs unexpectedly low. Mission managers are currently assessing the problem. More information will be announced as it becomes available.

4 explosions rock London in what has been deemed to coincide with the opening of the G8 summit. Three in various subway stations and another in one of the British ‘double decker’ buses. Current death toll stands at 34 37 with over 195 700 others injured.

Another cowardly terrorist al-Qaeda group claimed responsibility for the attacks via an Islamist website. Still unverified as of 8pm CST.

More new here on the BBC’s website

Our prayers go out to our British brethren.

How are you spending your long holiday weekend celebrating our nation’s Independence Day?

Today we spent the better part of the day scooting around the lake goofing off in our boat waiting for the fireworks display…. nothing quite like being out on the lake to watch the show instead of joining the mass crowds along the shorelines… Tomorrow will be more of the same, different lake but bringing out more toys, ski’s, tube, the inflatable jet ski thingy, and maybe the knee board that nobody’s been able to get up on for more than 3 seconds (what a waste of close to $200 that thing has been).

I’m off to nurse my toasted shoulders in preparation for some more sun :)

Anyone know of a good way to attach a good sized flag to a ski boat without having to drill and serious holes?

Happy 4th of July weekend folks!
